Horst Rellecke is and
will be formost an artist. Architecture, one way of working 3-dimensional, as well as painting, graphics or scuplturing, become integrated into the whole of his artistic creations, without any special preference.

1951  Born in Duisburg

1970  Abitur in Hamm/Westf.

1972  studys architecture at 
      the University Stuttgart, 
      starts painting and 
      delevelops a unique 
      painting technique
      mixing oils and chalk

1973  First sculptures made 
      with bronze, glass and 
      stainless steel

1975  Scholarship of the 
      Aldegrever-Gesellschaft,
      first etchings

1977  Thesis in architecture,
      Professor Hans Kammerer

1978  Tutor at the Institute for
      drawing and modeling at 
      the University Stuttgart
               
	
1979  travels to Egypt 
      sholarship of the German
      Academic Exchange Service

studys at the University
      of California Los Angeles,
      works with Charles Moore

1980  travels through North 
      America collecting 
      documental material
      about pop-architecture
                        
1981  models the 35m high
      "Glass Elephant" for the
      State Garden Fair in Hamm

1982  PhD., Thesis: The 
      relationship of "Pop"
      to architecture

1984  The glass elephant 
      is finished

1986  First major kinetic 
      objects, after many years
      work the book "The Glass 
      Elephant" (PhD. thesis) is 
      published

1987  Concept for the interior 
      of the glass elephant:
      altogether 10 kinetic
      objects are planned
      (one per year)
